Hearing Date Fixed For Case Against Speaker, Govt And Attorney-General
The case is jointly filed by FLP and Unity Fiji against the Speaker of Parliament, the Government, and the Attorney-General.

The Civil High Court of Suva has fixed a hearing date for the case filed by the Fiji Labour Party (FLP) and Unity Fiji Party.
They are challenging amendments made by Parliament to the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding, and Disclosures) Act 2013.
The case is jointly filed by FLP and Unity Fiji against the Speaker of Parliament, the Government, and the Attorney-General.

The matter was called before Chief Justice Kamal Kumar at the Veiuto Court Complex in Suva yesterday.
The two parties claim that the amendment to the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding, and Disclosures) Act 2013 was unconstitutional, invalid and null and void.
They claim the amendments were unconstitutional and invalid because it removed the right of an aggrieved party to appeal the decisions of the Registrar of Political Parties and the Electoral Commission to the High Court.
They also claim that the amendment in terms of Section 30 of the principal Act was unreasonable and in breach of the 2013 Fijian Constitution.
The matter has been fixed for a hearing on June 17.
