A trough of low pressure and associated cloud and rain is expected to affect the country from today (Wednesday) till Saturday.

The Fiji Meteorological Service issued a heavy rain alert for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Yasawa and Northern Lau Group.

Occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls are expected.

There will be possible impacts of flash flooding in low lying areas, iris crossing and informal settlements.

The public is to expect some disruption to traffic flow and poor visibility both on land and out at sea.

Some localized businesses are likely to be affected.
