High Commissioner Of Kiribati Meet With Prime Minister Rabuka

Mr Rabuka will be travelling to Kiribati this Friday, top of his agenda that he has openly said is about regional solidarity and it has been speculated that this trip will be his bid to bring back Kiribati in the Pacific Islands Forum.

High Commissioner of Kiribati to Fiji, Tebuai Uaai, has just exited the Office of the Prime Minister (OFP) a few minutes ago.

Currently, Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sitiveni Rabuka is the Chair for the Pacific Islands Forum - replacing Voreqe Bainimarama.

Mr Rabuka will be travelling this Friday to Kiribati and hold bilateral discussion with the President of Kiribati, Taneti Maamau.

Mr Uaai could not comment about the visit.

Meanwhile, Kiribati exited the forum in July 2022 citing inconsistency of how the forum addressed some of their matter, which included reluctance to address concerns over the appointment of the Cook Islander, Henry Puna to the Secretary General role, this despite being promised to Micronesia then.
