Staff at the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort and Spa collected 15 bags of rubbish during a clean-up drive at Nadi Cemetery on Enamanu Road to mark World Clean-Up Day. They carried out mowing, raking, weed control, and insecticide spraying to restore dignity and care to the site last Friday.
As part of Hilton’s global Travel with Purpose commitment, they proudly joined millions around the world in celebrating World Clean-Up Day. A team of 24 Hilton Fiji staff members volunteered two hours of their time to clean and maintain the cemetery grounds.
"We are proud to kick-start our cemetery adoption initiative on World Cleanup Day,” said Ms Carey Osborne, Cluster general manager.
“At Hilton, we believe in taking meaningful action to support our communities and environment. This is more than just a one-day clean up, it’s about keeping Fiji clean and beautiful. It’s also a long-term commitment to maintaining a place of cultural and historical importance for the people of Nadi."

This initiative also represents the beginning of Hilton Fiji’s long-term partnership with the Nadi Town Council. The resort has made a pledge to maintain and upkeep the cemetery regularly.
The adoption is led by Hilton Fiji’s Blue Energy Committee, which champions community engagement, environmental stewardship, and sustainability efforts across Fiji. Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Lawrence Kumar said, from time to time, a lot is being said about the cemetery not being well looked after.
"I take my hat off to the resort staff who spared their time to. Give back to the community in this form of initiative," he said.
"It is important that stakeholders get their acts together for a greater course. We urge the people of Nadi to show patriotism and pride in their environment."
Nadi's senior resident, Ronnie Chang, said, “My sincere thanks to all concerned for this task in cleaning Enamanu Cemetery.”
Hilton’s Travel with Purpose programme focuses on driving responsible travel and tourism globally, with initiatives across all Hilton properties highlighting sustainability, cultural preservation, and positive social impact.
