Devotees gathered in Nasese, Suva yesterday to take part in the submersion of Lord Ganesha’s idol which marked the final day of Ganesh Utsav.

Devotees gathered in Nasese, Suva yesterday to take part in the submersion of Lord Ganesha’s idol which marked the final day of Ganesh Utsav.
Hundreds of devotees danced through the streets of Suva wearing colourful clothes and took Lord Ganesha’s idol all the way to Nasese.
Shree Laxmi Narayan Temple priest Jayendra Kumar said because of the COVID-19 restrictions each group was given an hour to conduct their rituals.

“Everyone followed the COVID-19 guidelines where only 100 people per group came to perform the ritual for an hour.”
Vikashni Lal, 37 said that she had downloaded the careFIJI app before attending the final ritual.
“I downloaded the careFiji app before coming to the final ritual to be safe during the celebration,” she said.
