A 51-year-old physically-challenged man’s prayer request for renovation of his house was finally answered.

This was after the Labasa Veteran Football Club which was formed last month visited Jiten Prasad last Sunday.

After his parents’ death, Mr Prasad begged on the streets of Labasa Town for more than two decades for survival.

In 2018 the Department of Social Welfare stepped forward to assist him with disability allowance.

“Since I have been living alone in this donated piece of land and house, unable to walk and save money, I couldn’t renovate and build a toilet and bathroom,” Mr Prasad said.

“Whatever little education I received from my parents and two siblings is what I use daily to survive.”

The eldest of three siblings born with physical disability since birth lives in a one open space house where he cooks food and sleeps.

Labasa Veteran Football Club member Sandeep Kumar said this was their first community project which was identified by former Labasa player Semesa Vilisi.

“We visited Mr Prasad and immediately carried out renovation and later will build a toilet and bathroom,” Mr Kumar said
