Honourable Radrodro Commits to Supporting IT sector
Professor Nabobo-Baba also proudly shared that FNU successfully transitioned towards the digital system in 2021.

“I will continue to explore innovative ways to use technology and integrate and embed it as part of the education system so our students are exposed to the technological world before they join tertiary institutions.”
This was the statement made by the Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro while officiating at the National Conference on Information Technology hosted by the Fiji National University’s (FNU) National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC) in Nadi.
The conference, which aligned with the theme ‘Enhancing National and Regional Economies through Sustainable and Equitable Technology’, took place in mid-August.

“To achieve accessibility in digital infrastructure, there must be concerted efforts amongst government and non-government agencies, Ministry of Education and its tertiary institutions including its primary and secondary schools,” he shared.
“The Coalition Government has ensured that it invests in TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) to strengthen information technology in all our schools, and we acknowledge the challenges as we continue to work tirelessly in trying to map the best possible economical solution in the accessibility of IT in our rural, remote and maritime schools.”
He said discussions were underway between FNU and the Education Ministry to draft and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen the partnership of both parties in Vocational and Technical Skills Training.
FNU Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba highlighted that the theme of the conference resonated deeply with the challenges and aspirations of current times.

“The National Conference on IT is a platform where we explored the boundless potential of technology in enhancing our national and regional economies while remaining steadfast in our commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 9 which aims to ‘Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, and foster innovation,” she added.
