How Nakama Village Deals With Quarantine
Nakama Village headman, Rusiate Tavusa, said he was liable for decisions made regarding repatriates home quarantine.

Sera Matai and her grandson are looking forward to coming out of quarantine at their Nakama Village home in Labasa.
Ms Matai said they’re eagerly awaiting their swab results from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to carry out their daily routine.
Nakama Village headman, Rusiate Tavusa, said he was liable for decisions made regarding repatriates home quarantine.

Mr Tavusa said he had to disallow Ms Matai’s family at first because there was a funeral in the village.
“I asked if they could be in quarantine facilities at Labasa College. They were brought back to their home after the funeral,” he said.
“This was to prevent any repercussions should there be a community transmission.
“When the family arrived their relatives assisted. Food was placed at a safe distance for them to pick up later.”
Assistant Roko Tui Macuata Epeli Tabuarua said all village headman had to arrange quarantine facilities for the repatriates and the final decisions for home quarantine came from them.
