Husband On Murder Charge Remanded In Custody
It is alleged that Deve on March 4, 2018, in Naikorokoro Village in Levuka, Ovalau, assaulted his 21-year-old wife and murdered her by forcing her to drink paraquat.

A man facing a murder charge has been further remanded in custody by the High Court in Suva.
Tevita Deve is charged with one count each of murder and assault causing actual bodily harm.
He appeared before Judge Justice Daniel Goundar.

State prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Taitusi Tuenuku, told the court that the State had 20 witnesses to give evidence.
He also served the finalised agreed facts to the defence counsel.
He also told the court that the State was objecting to the bail of the accused because there were full admissions in the caution interview and the state has filed the objections.
Defence counsel Amani Bale told the court that the defence team would challenge the caution interview and statement.
Mr Bale also sought seven days to file voir dire grounds.
The matter was adjourned for bail hearing on April 30.
