Screams for help amid loud explosions yesterday turned Miriama Seniceva’s morning at her Viria East Vatuwaqa, Suva home into chaos.
Her house is located just behind AutoWorld’s showroom and car yard.
“I was shocked because I heard my mum screaming. That’s why I jumped out of bed and ran outside,” the 22-year-old said.

In the chaos, she almost forgot her baby.
“My sister was there, thankfully, or I would have lost my baby,” she said, her voice shaking as she recounted the ordeal.
Smoke and flames from the nearby blaze filled the air, making it pitch black and nearly impossible to see.
Ms Seniceva described the terrifying moments as she ran across the driveway with her family.
All over the driveway, there was chaos. Black smoke filled the area, and the fire was spreading rapidly from the factory.
Despite the fear, Ms Seniceva expressed relief and gratitude.
“I’d like to thank the Almighty for taking care of us; my baby, my family, and all the relatives staying with us,” she said.
Neighbours in the settlement helped each other flee as the fire spread. Most families abandoned their homes to escape the flames and thick smoke.
Though shaken, Ms Seniceva and her family are now safe.
The National Fire Authority is still investigating the cause of the fire, while displaced families seek shelter and support from the community.
