'I have not communicated with the TRC' — George Speight

George Speight has denied reports claiming he has communicated with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) or agreed to appear before it.

In a statement issued today, Mr Speight clarified that he has not had any formal communication with the TRC and has made no commitment to appear before the commission.

He said reports suggesting otherwise were unfounded and did not reflect the truth.

Mr Speight called on media outlets responsible for the claims to retract the story and issue a formal apology, saying inaccurate reporting undermines public trust and integrity in news reporting.

He said the statement was issued to correct misinformation and to prevent further inaccuracies regarding the matter.

Mr Speight also conveyed his best wishes to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in its work.
