Two months after her daughter’s body was found in a Korovuto cane field, a grieving mother finally laid the teenager to rest yesterday.

But she says the family’s fight for justice is far from over.

"I pray for Justice," said Adi Vasiti Ranadi, who buried her 19-year-old daughter, Kolora Nasau Buli, in Lauwaki Village, Lautoka.

Kolora’s body was discovered in a sugarcane field in Korovuto, Nadi, along Mate Road on December 28. It is believed she sustained serious head injuries. Her body was partially decomposed when found.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed yesterday that, following ongoing inquiries and assessment of evidence gathered so far, the case has been reclassified.

The family had been unable to proceed with the burial as Police forensic teams conducted DNA testing overseas. Ms Ranadi said officers from the Criminal Investigation Department visited last Friday and handed over the death certificate, allowing the family to finally say goodbye.

“Finally, we laid her to rest, but it is not over," she said.

"The family needs justice. Whoever did this should face the full brunt of the law,” she said.

Kolora was taken directly from the morgue to be buried near the family home.

Police investigations are continuing.
