Lone backbencher, Aseri Radrodro is committed to ensure that the coalition Government complete its full term.

Mr Radrodro was dismissed by the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka on Friday January 19 for insubordination and disobedience over the appointment of four Fiji National University (FNU) Council members.

Despite presenting evidence that he had followed instructions and the legal advice of the Solicitor-General Ropate Green, Mr Rabuka maintained his stance to dismiss the SODELPA deputy leader.

The SODELPA management board plead to reinstate Mr Radrodro was also unsuccessful.

In an interview at his Lami home yesterday, Mr Radrodro said he respected the decision of the Prime Minister and would continue to serve as an MP.

“I’m still a Member of Parliament and I will continue to be a voice of the people."

“Everyone is expected to play their part and we need to work effectively.”

Should Mr Radrodro resign as an MP, Rewa paramount chief, Ro Teimumu Kepa will be the next in line.

Ro Teimumu secured 1123 votes in the 2022 General Election, 116 votes behind Mr Radrodro.

Meanwhile, SODELPA’s management board meeting will take place on Friday 23 February, 2024 at the Southern Cross.

The party’s constitution review and the appointment of a party leader for the 2026 general election are among the agenda items.
