“I was a senior prefect, provisional prefect and now the headboy for the school,” said headboy Kuliniyasi Malani

Yat Sen Secondary School headgirl Ca kie Zhong yesterday said she would work very hard to be a good leader and do well in her academic studies.

“I will work extra hard to be perfect academically and as the headgirl,” said Ca kie after the induction ceremony at the school in Flagstaff, Suva. 22 prefects were inducted for the school with a roll of 329 students and 27 teachers.

Headboy Kuliniyasi Malani, 17, of Suva said that he wanted to lead by example for the school.

“I was a senior prefect, provisional prefect and now the headboy for the school,” Kuliniyasi said

He is not the first in the family to be a school headprefect.

“My uncle (father’s brother) and other relatives were badged as heads of their respective schools during their time,” he said.

He said he was praying and had faith that he was going to be the headboy of the school.

“It’s indescribable how I got the badge; it’s God’s blessing,” he said.

Ca kie said that she was excited and happy to be the school’s headgirl.

“I am first in the family to hold the headgirl’s badge,” she said.

She thanked the teachers for choosing her for the position as they believed in her to be a responsible leader.

Both head prefects started with Yet Sen kindergarten and are now in Year 13.
