Mereseini Koroi, 49, considers herself fortunate and blessed to have survived last week’s Nina Street, Suva, road accident. .

Ms Koroi is the second victim of a motor vehicle accident which claimed a life and left her badly injured.

Along with her husband, they were returning from paying their water bill when they decided to head over to Nora’s Store for shopping.

“I am still trying to come to terms with the accident because everything happened way too fast,” she said.

“We had made a stop at my cousin’s stall to buy socks, earbuds and tekiteki (ear flower). In a split second I felt a heavy, shocking bump from the left side of my body.”

The shock from the hit almost sent Ms Koroi to a standstill, but was saved by her quick intuition to move out of harm’s way.

“The bump sent shockwaves through my spine, I started to get shortness of breath,” she said.

“I didn’t even notice the woman next to me, I stood up quickly and ran for safety.”
