The brain drain in our Information Technology (IT) sector is a mere tip of the iceberg.

Fiji will soon face acute shortage of truck drivers, given the increase of drivers leaving the country to work in Australia and New Zealand.

We are not the only country facing this situation, but we are in a unique position to be able to make this profession lucrative and retain experienced drivers in the country.

At the end of 2022, Europe needed 450,000 truck drivers. Those from Australia and New Zealand have been leaving to fill in that gap. It is expected that this number will triple by 2026 and a whopping two million driver vacancies will exist in Europe.
