International and regional broadcasters, including religious platforms have shown interest in telecasting their programmes on the Walesi Digital Television and radio channel platform.

Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, revealed this to the public during his visit to the Seaqaqa Primary School on his Northern Division tour on Monday.

Mr Bainimarama said there was positive interest from international and regional broadcasters and religious platforms who opted to telecast their material on the Walesi channel platform.

These included: ABC Australia, BBC and Hope channel to join the Walesi Digital television and radio services.

A first-ever High Definition TV channel would be launched later this year through the Walesi platform with the FBC Sports channel expected to bring programmes in high definition (HD) quality.

These would enhance the public to view the sports programmes in better HD clarity and view.

Walesi currently had over 700,000 users on its online app which is available for both Android and IOS users.

It is also in the process of upgrading from its current app to provide customers with better-improved user access.

FBC has secured exclusive rights on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar which will be telecasted on the FBC Sports channel in HD quality,” the PM said.

This telecast for the football competition would begin on November 21, this year.
