Intoxicated 17-Year-Old Driver Lands Passengers in Hospital

A person is admitted in serious condition at the Lautoka Hospital after the vehicle he was traveling in collided with an Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) post.
This was confirmed by the Police spokesperson, Sergeant Wame Bautolu yesterday.
“A person is fighting for his life at the Lautoka Hospital after the vehicle he was traveling in collided with an EFL post,” he said.

“On Saturday, about 1pm along Queens Rd, at Malaqere, Sigatoka, a 17-year-old, student was driving conveying four passengers when he lost control of the vehicle and hit an EFL post.”

“The second passenger, a 34-year-old, is also admitted at Lautoka Hospital after an operation on his left shoulder while the third passenger was treated and sent home.”
“The fourth passenger and driver fled the scene as they were both intoxicated with liquor,” he added.
Mr Bautolu said an investigation into the incident would continue.
Also on Saturday, a Viti Minibus is believed to have collided with a bus at Namaka in Nadi.
