Investigations Underway After Fire Destroy Dormitories at Ra School

A fire yesterday at Ra High School located along the Kings Highway destroyed three girls dormitories.
School legal advisor Ratu Josaia Niudamu confirmed the dormitories were vacant when the incident occurred at 1pm.
He claimed an electrical fault caused the fire.

He said the dormitories had remained vacant since there were no boarder intake this year.

“It was one of the first three buildings that were built.”
National Fire Authority (NFA) chief executive officer Puamau Sowane confirmed the incident and was waiting for further details as investigations continue.
Divisional Police Commander West Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa said officers were also on the ground assisting the NFA with investigations.
