Israel will establish a resident embassy in Suva following Cabinet approval, marking a significant step in strengthening diplomatic ties with Fiji.
According to Government, the move signals a deepening of relations between the two countries, which have maintained cooperation since establishing diplomatic ties in 1970.
Cabinet said the new embassy would enhance collaboration in key areas including security, climate change, agriculture and emerging technologies.

Bilateral engagement has expanded in recent years through initiatives such as agricultural cooperation with MASHAV, Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation, and the opening of Fiji’s embassy in Jerusalem in 2025, Government said in a statement.
"The establishment of Israel’s embassy in Suva is expected to further strengthen diplomatic engagement and support joint development efforts between the two countries."
