itaukei Students President Thankful For GCC Talks

University of the South Pacific iTaukei Students Association president Timaima Vatia expressed gratitude after a successful consultation session by the Great Council of Chief (GCC) review team at the university yesterday.
Ms Vatia said she was thankful to the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, Fiji Government and the review team led by Jone Baledrokadroka for the opportunity for students to air their views.
She said such consultations helped youths and especially her association navigate the recent decision made to revive the GCC.

“This is a great initiative by the Ministry of the iTaukei Affairs for taking their time to come out and discuss the relevance of GCC, this is new for us,” Ms Vatia said
Ms Vatia is the first female to lead the iTaukei Students Association at the university and being part of this consultation will be one of her many achievements.
“It is a great thing that the university students are able to be assisted with information in regards to GCC,” she said.
“I urge other youths around the country to take part in these consultations.”
