Civil servants can continue working without having to vaccinate. The choice has been left entirely to each individual.
According to the Ministry of Civil Service Permanent Secretary Susan Kiran there is no policy as such at the moment to say that civil servants who were not vaccinated would not be allowed to work.
In contrast, some private companies have come up with the “No Vaccination, No Work” policy which requires employees to get vaccinated if they intend to continue employment with the company.

Companies such as Performance Flotation Development, Lyndhurst and Danam have enforced that policy and even allowed time for employees to get their jabs.
They also made arrangements by bringing the ministry to their own facilities and getting employees vaccinated. Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said earlier that while vaccination was key in returning to days of economic viability, the Government in no way was going to make it compulsory via legislation.
He said it remained everyone’s constitutional right to choose whether to get vaccinated or not.
He said exercising that right could have consequences.
“If your employer says that you cannot work here if you don’t get vaccinated and you have chosen not to get vaccinated, you cannot then work there,” he said.
The ministry is targeting to vaccinate at least 80 per cent of the population to reach herd immunity which could lead to a return to normalcy.
