Jack Of All trades Now Operates Own Catering Business

In 2002, while employed as a taxi driver, Abdul Ahad, had a goal to one day operate his own restaurant.

This long-term goal was achieved two weeks ago when he opened the doors to his newly established restaurant, Kaifs Fish Corner (KFC) in Nadi, located opposite Prince Charles Park.

Mr Ahad who is in his 60s invested a total of $25,000 in the restaurant.

The jack of all trade originally from Navo, Nadi, was a cane farmer, a baker and a taxi driver prior to opening his restaurant.

“On September 14, I opened this restaurant worth about $25,000 including a renovation of the facility,” he said.

He said the majority of the food on the menu dealt with fish, whether it was fish in chillies, fish kokoda or fish burgers.

“Here we are mastering meals involving fish,” he said.

“It is all about our innovative ideas and the family who loves to cook. Cooking has been our family’s passion generated from our forefathers.”

Mr Ahad believes in growing and empowering local businesses. He said the produce used to cook and prepare the variety of dishes was purchased from local businesses.

“I buy chicken from Nacocolevu, duck from Reddy’s Farm Fresh, rice from Goodman Fielder and fish from Paradise Seafood Supplies,” he said.

He added that the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar will officiate at the launch of his restaurant today.

“We shall get all the ladies including my mother to also mark Pinktober together with the opening of the restaurant as we need to show our support in that area,” he said.
