Jagnnath Sami is Fiji’s New Envoy to India

With more than 40 years of experience in the sugar sector, Mr Sami brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role.

Fiji’s newly-appointed High Commissioner to India, Jagnnath Sami, was sworn-in at the State House, Suva, yesterday.

In the presence of the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, and the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Lesikimacuata Korovavala, Mr Sami took the oaths of allegiance and execution of office.

With more than 40 years of experience in the sugar sector, Mr Sami brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role.

He was the Fiji Sugar Cane Growers Council chief executive officer from 2000 to 2006.

Later, he assumed the position of CEO at the India Sanmargya Ikya Sangam (TISI), a prominent cultural and educational organisation. Under his leadership, the organisation oversaw 23 primary schools, five colleges, and the Sangam Graduate School of Nursing in Labasa.

In 2016, Mr Sami joined Impact Partners Fiji (IPF) as a project officer. IPF is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to enhancing the income of sugarcane farmers.

Throughout his career, Mr Sami has contributed his expertise to various boards, including the Sugar Commission of Fiji, South Pacific Fertilizers Ltd, Sugar Cane Growers Fund, Fiji Sugar Marketing Ltd, Sugar Research Institute of Fiji, and Mill Area Committees.
