Japanese Student Drowns While On Day Cruise

Police said that after 10 minutes, the student was nowhere to be seen.

A 21-year-old Japanese student based in Nadi is the latest drowning victim.

The student was on a day-cruise with 11 other students who attend Nadi's Freebird Institute.

The victim had dived from a jetty into the sea yesterday afternoon.

Police said that after 10 minutes, the student was nowhere to be seen.

A search was conducted and the body was retrieved. CPR was applied but proved futile.

The body of the student is at the Nadi Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem.
