Account of eyewitness
An eyewitness who chose to remain anonymous had said the victim was wearing a tracksuit and was walking down the road at Evan Street before he was allegedly attacked.
The eyewitness said the victim ran into a house to save himself from being attacked but the offender managed to grab and attack him. The alleged incident happened around 10pm.
“After he had been beating the old man in front of the house, some men pulled him (offender) away because the old man was bleeding. When they took him far away, he managed to escape and ran back to the old man to beat him up for the second time,” he said.
Taxi driver, Ross Kumar, who transported the deceased to the hospital, said he was still breathing when they loaded him into the cab.
Police said investigations into the case continued.
