Judicial Review On DPP Decision Heard By Acting Chief Justice

A judicial review matter filed by former Land Transport Au­thority employee Veronica Ma­lani was heard by the Acting Chief Justice Kamal Kumar at the Suva High Court yesterday.

The judicial review was filed by Ms Malani on the Office of the Director of Public Prosecu­tions (ODPP) decision that there was insufficient credible and reliable evidence to support the criminal charges laid against the Attorney-General Aiayaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Ms Malani alleged that Mr Sayed-Khaiyum was involved in a 1987 bombing injuring her and her mother. She was 14 years old at the time.

The matter has been adjourned to September 3. The proceed­ings were held in a closed court to comply with COVID safe pro­tocols.
