Karan’s Singing Passion Pays off Big Time

A 13-year-old’s determination to travel to New Zealand to take part in a Bollywood singing competition has paid off.
Yasheeza Karan became the first international runner-up in the Bollywood Factor Talent Search talent show in Auckland during the weekend.
Hailing from Buca in Savusavu, Yasheza brushed aside more than 10 competitive pools of talented Bollywood singing enthusiasts.

She was up against competitors from New Zealand, India, Canada the United States of America and Fiji.
The 13-year-old is the second oldest of three siblings and is a source of inspiration to her two brothers.
“Singing is my passion and a hobby, so winning the award is a special moment in my life,” she said.

She also said her parents were very supportive in her journey as they prioritised training to practice her songs.
Yasheza was also trained by Kohinor Band. The young star has requested more talent search shows to be hosted locally in Vanua Levu and around the country.
She encouraged other youths to unearth their singing capabilities and potentially develop their talent as an employable skill as well.
The adamant singer plans to become a professional singer in the future and pursue a career in it.
Her mother, Fairina Farzana Khan, said with Yasheza trusting her capabilities, it allowed her to compete against other good and quality singers.
Ms Khan said her daughter’s earlier preparation on Facebook with the Nagata Kumar singing group was the perfect build-up to the international contest.
They learned about the competition from a close contact of the competition organising committee.
