Kontiki Finance has donated its sixth vehicle to the Fiji Cancer Society, strengthening efforts to deliver cancer services directly to communities with limited access to health care.

The fully maintained vehicle was handed over yesterday and will be used for outreach programmes across Fiji, enabling health workers to travel to villages and underserved areas for cancer screenings, awareness sessions and patient follow-up care.

Kontiki Finance Group human resources manager Leeanne Dalton said the partnership with the Fiji Cancer Society began in November 2018 and was focused on providing practical support where it was most needed.

“This is about helping them reach more people,” Dalton said.

“By providing a vehicle, they can go into communities and support people who cannot easily get to clinics.”

She said Kontiki Finance would cover all costs associated with the vehicle, including fuel, insurance and servicing, allowing the society to focus fully on patient care.

Dalton said cancer affected many families, making community support essential.

“This is a shared responsibility. Many of us have been affected by cancer through our families and friends,” she said.

Fiji Cancer Society chief executive officer Belinda Chan thanked Kontiki Finance for its continued support, saying the donation would significantly strengthen outreach efforts and improve early detection.

“Now we’re taking services directly to communities,” Chan said.

“This means we can save lives by identifying cancer earlier and ensuring patients receive proper follow-up care.”

The donation highlights the role of private sector partnerships in improving access to health care, particularly for people living far from medical facilities.
