Students of Korovuto Primary School are set to benefit from seven new classrooms funded by a major donation from a United States-based foundation.
Ray and Ranjilene Pressley of the SEEP Foundation USA, donated $210,000 towards the project. The cost of the development is about $380,000. It was coordinated by Radha Kahnai Reddy.
Mr Pressley said the classrooms were more than buildings.
“They are spaces of learning, growth, opportunity and dreams,” he said.
“We are here for the children. When I was notified of the need through my father-in-law, a former teacher at this school, we just had to make it possible.”
Project coordinator Ms Reddy commended the achievement.
“This is a historic and joyful occasion for the school, a milestone that will benefit generations to come. We celebrate what has already been achieved, but we also look ahead with hope and unity,” he said.
Head teacher Anal Kishore Kumar said the generosity shown by the Pressley family and the SEEP Foundation had brought the project to completion.
“Your support is not only financial, but also deeply personal, meaningful and rooted in legacy,” he said.
“With the support already shown, we are confident we can secure the remaining assistance needed to fully settle this project.”
He said the donation continued the tradition of service left by the late Shiu Sharan Kanhai, who served as a committee member of Korovuto schools.
“The act of giving is more than a gift. It is a continuation of a family legacy of commitment to education and community uplift-ment. Thank you for standing and believing in the future of our children.”
