Closing nightclubs at 1am will not work, says Opposition Member of Parliament, Faiyaz Koya.
The former government minister strongly disagreed with the proposed amendment to the Liquor Act 2016 that was debated in Parliament on Friday.
The amendment indicated that special zones that existed under the Liquor Bill Act 2006, that is, Suva and Nadi be removed and nightclubs in these zones to operate from 5pm to 1am.

The bill was passed in Parliament in a majority vote.
Mr Koya said Government had just opened up a black market for liquor.
