Kumar Eyes Year 13 Glory

Tanisha Kumar, who scored the highest marks in the 2022 Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination for the Northern Division, has set her sights on a higher goal.
She aims to be a dux for Fiji in the Fiji Year 13 Certificate Examination.
The 18-year-old from Boca, Labasa, received the Science Dux Award during the prize-giving ceremony at Labasa College yesterday.

She scored 469 marks out of 500 in the annual examination. She is the only child of Ajendra Kumar and Raksha Kumar, who are secondary school teachers in Labasa.
She wants to become a doctor.
“I was not surprised to get this dux award because I worked hard daily with the support from my parents,” Tanisha said.
“For me, consistency is important, and the objective is to make my school proud.”
Her father is a teacher at Labasa Muslim College while her mother is the Holy Family Secondary School vice-principal.
Meanwhile, Arts Dux Award recipient, Akuila Kolidamu, 19, of Batinikama, scored 441 out of 500.
“My father, Semisi Nasaroa is a yaqona farmer and my mother, Dimere Ranadi a domestic worker,”Akuila said.
“Every day I pray to God to give me strength so I can become an auditor and improve my family’s standard of living.” He is a senior prefect of his school.
