Lab Techs First To Get Shots In The North

More than 200 doses of vaccines arrived in Labasa yesterday to be mobilised in the Northern Division.
World Health Organisation support officer for COVID-19 vaccine Sangita Sharma said yesterday they focussed on getting the hospital staff members vaccinated.
“We will later move to Savusavu, where our main focus will be at the port of entry and the Savusavu Hospital.

There are 150 doses for Labasa while 100 doses for Savusavu.
Meanwhile, Labasa Hospital laboratory technician Timoci Rasolo, who was the first medical staff to get vaccinated, said AstraZeneca was the way to normalisation.
“For us in the laboratory, we’re the ones doing the testing,”Mr Rasolo said.

Director Nursing Suman Lata Raman said they have put the lab technicians to be the first ones to receive the vaccination because they run tests on samples daily.
Seventeen lab technicians out of the 30 lab workers received the first roll out of the vaccine yesterday.
