Labasa Council Provides More Tables for Market Vendors

Market vendors are relieved the Labasa Town Council plans to provide additional tables for safety measures and selling spaces.
Council special administrator (SA) chairperson, Paul Jaduram said 180 double-sized (2m x 1m) tables would be installed at the farmer’s shed at Labasa Market.
“This plan has already been approved and vendors selling outside will now sell from inside the market,” Mr Jaduram said.

Additional income
The council charges $2.40 per stall/table for 46 vendors. This amounted to $110.40 per day.
The public convenience is also offered to vendors and customers visiting the market at an affordable rate of 25 cents per usage. Council acting chief executive officer, Farun Ali, said this was cheaper than the toilet and washroom services offered at a nearby shop.
