With a demand for preschool education on the rise, a Labasa couple returned from Suva to invest in the opening of a day care centre.

The Jerry’s Daycare and Preschool Centre is the second such facility in Labasa and is located at Lot 10 Rara Avenue, opposite Subrail Park ground number two.

It is owned by Irene Robinson who is originally from Tabia, Labasa and the project is supported by her husband, Robinson Dass of Naleba.

After graduating with a Certificate in Early Childhood Education from the University of the South Pacific in 2016, she opened three day care facilities in the Central Division at Samabula, Makoi and Davuilevu.

“Now that we are here, we would like to encourage parents to use this facility which will provide an opportunity to their children to explore their environment, interact with their peers, and find their own interests and hobbies,” said the mother of three children.

“It will also encourage your little one to develop emotional intelligence and independence.”

She said being independent at an early age builds a child’s selfesteem and it would be easier for them in the future to face life’s challenges, unfazed.

The centre is open from Monday to Friday, 7am to 5:30pm.
