Labasa Family Reels Over Father’s Death
The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle while driving, causing it to veer-off the road. The vehicle landed in a creek upside down trapping the three passengers inside, Police said.

A mother of two in Labasa is trying to come to terms with the death of her husband and father of her children who was allegedly involved in a road accident on the weekend.
Dead is Eroni Matanitobua, a taxi driver, who was a passenger in the car that was involved in the accident.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the accident occurred along the Seaqaqa-Navidamu Road about midday on Sunday.

The deceased’s wife, Salata Tamani said her last conversation with her husband was at 8pm on Saturday night at their residence in Wailevu.
“He told me he was going for a taxi job, so as always, it was a routine thing because of his job.”
The victim was one of two passengers in the vehicle driven by a 31-year-old suspect.

National Fire Authority
National Fire Authority (NFA) and Police personnel retrieved the three and were rushed to the Labasa Hospital.
Ms Naisoro said the suspect and the second passenger remain admitted while investigations continue.
“We again remind drivers not to take road safety safely,” he added.
