Labasa Divisional Hospital has opened its doors for patient visitation of up to two visitors daily.

This is due to the decrease in COVID-19 patient numbers.

Visitation is from 11 am to 12 pm daily.

Labasa Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr Jaoji Vulibeci confirmed that easing of restrictions for visitors was because of the decline in positive COVID cases.

He said they would continue to monitor the COVID situation and make changes in terms of increasing visitor numbers.

Dr Jaoji only the vaccinated visitors were allowed to enter hospital premises.

“We are getting very few hospital admissions with only one case per day, which further boosts our ability to return to normalcy prior to when COVID began,” Dr Vulibeci said.

He said this was also made possible through the number of people who have been fully vaccinated that created a COVID safe environment.

Avinesh Kumar welcomed the decision for patient visits as he was able to physically interact with his grandmother who was admitted at the Labasa Hospital.

“We are now able to better care and cater for loved ones admitted by providing home-cooked food,” Mr Kumar said.

Asena Qica, said she was now at ease knowing she could deliver home cooked meals for her loved one.

Ms Qica added that physical interaction provides a healing aspect to the patient, and this was vital for their recovery.
