Labour To Name Leader At National Council Meeting Next Week?

The Fiji Labour Party (FLP) is expected to announce its leader after its National Council meeting next week.
Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry said the leadership issue would be discussed in the council meeting which is scheduled for next month.
“The decision has not been taken as yet,” he said.

Mr Chaudhry assumed leadership of the party in 1991 from the late Adi Kuini Bavadra, who was the wife of the late Timoci Bavadra who died in 1989. Adi Kuini died in 2004.
Yesterday, the FLP’s management board met to discuss the Party leadership issue ahead of the 2018 general elections.
On the latest update on their Facebook page, it stated that the party had decided to resolve its leadership issue at its council meeting.
The board also discussed the names of candidates to contest the general elections on a Party ticket.
These are also to be endorsed by the National Council next week.
