Tomorrow, the Fiji Labour Party (FLP) will announce part of its manifesto to revive the sugar industry.

Party leader, Mahendra Chaudhry said the way forward was diversification and value adding.

National Farmers Union president and FLP candidate, Surendra Lal, said the sugar industry was on the verge of collapse.

“Fiji Sugar Corporation is just surviving on the funding from the Government because it is financially non-viable,” Mr Lal said.

“We have to relook at the operation of FSC first to increase efficiency at the mills and FSC’s profitability.”
