Lakeba Nexus Holdings has launched its Strategic Plan for 2026–2030, establishing a roadmap for sustainable development and the responsible management of natural resources in Lakeba, Lau.

Representing the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs at the launch, iTaukei Trust Fund Board chief executive officer Aisake Taito said that the planning process began in 2024 following the installation of the current Tui Nayau.

“From there, the tikina of Lakeba approached the iTaukei Trust Fund Board to establish a company and develop a business plan to implement this five-year strategy,” Mr Taito said.

The plan aims to promote transparency, integrity, and unity, ensuring that development benefits the Vanua of Lakeba both now and for future generations.

Mr Taito explained that Lakeba Nexus Holdings was established to provide a structured, organised approach to managing the tikina’s assets.

“The idea was to set up a company with a proper business plan so development can be organised, sustainable, and beneficial to the people,” he added.

The Strategic Plan identifies five key priority areas:

  • The establishment of Lakeba Nexus Holdings Pte Ltd;
  • Financial sustainability;
  • Operational efficiency;
  • The development of a sound investment portfolio; and
  • Empowering beneficiaries through inclusive participation.

The plan also stressed the responsible use of natural and marine resources to support local livelihoods.

Mr Taito highlighted the region's rich potential, including pine plantations, coconuts, pandanus leaves, marine resources, and agriculture.

“These are the areas we want to develop in a sustainable way,” he said.

The Lakeba Nexus Holdings Strategic Plan 2026–2030 will guide decision-making and investment over the next five years, aiming to create long-term economic opportunities while safeguarding resources for the future.
