A family residing at Vugalei, Lami, is devastated after receiving the news of the death of their 44-year-old father, Tevita Tui.

According to Police, the victim was found motionless on the roadside along Vugalei yesterday morning.

He was taken to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

His wife, Losalini Marama, 44, and her four children were in tears as she shared the last conversation she had with her husband that morning.

“At around 1am (yesterday), I asked him to go to bed because it was already Sunday morning and I needed to go to work,” she shared.

“At first I could hear him snoring on our sofa, but a few minutes later when I came back from the room, he wasn’t there anymore.

I didn’t know he followed the crowd to the road.”

Ms Losalini said the shocking news left her shattered as they were looking forward to their youngest son’s enrolment for Year 1 next year.

“Fifteen years of marriage and one thing I know about him for sure, he was a happy person.

Even if he was drunk, he would be the one keeping the party going with his funny jokes,” she said.

“Now that he’s gone, I will have to play the role of a mum and dad in the house.

I miss him so much.”

Things are going to be different for the Tui family now as she learns to handle the load alone.

“We had made plans to start renovating our house beginning in January, but now I will have to figure it all out without him,” she said.

Police said the body was now kept at the hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
