Lami High School principal Cama Toko confirmed yesterday that the official celebration for the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Vodafone Deans Trophy Under 19 win will be held on Saturday at the school compound.
“The Lami High School old scholars; parents and teachers association are organising the celebration,” Toko said.
“There’s been a talk for a march from Harbour Point, Suvavou to Lami High.”
“All stakeholders are involved in the preparation; we want the vakacirisalusalu out of the way before classes resume next Tuesday for Term Three,” he said.
While sports activities are a core curricular activity in their school, Toko admits that it also provides a career path for students.
“Here at Lami High we are no different, we encourage our students to take part in all kinds of sports,” he said.
“This win has lifted the spirit and enthusiasm among our students; it has radiated many positive vibes.”
According to Toko, LHS has been invited to take part in the Hibiscus touch rugby competition plus the Fiji Secondary School cricket competition.
“We are also doing off-season for rugby league for first term next year,” he said.
“We believe in inclusive education; meeting the child in their point of need.”
Toko said sports are used as a platform to direct students away from drugs and other social issues.
