Last Adjournment for Alleged Lami Murder Trial

Murder accused Inoke Qalo Loloma outside the High Court in Suva.
The High Court in Suva has given the lawyer of alleged murderer, Inoke Qalo Loloma, of Vugalei, Lami, a last adjournment date for pretrial conference.
Defence lawyer Shirley Tivao appeared for Loloma’s case before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe last Friday seeking another adjournment date as the lawyer in carriage, Susan Serukai was not able to appear for the case.
Loloma is charged with one count of murder after he allegedly punched a 43-year-old man during a drinking party on Christmas Eve last year at Vugalei.

During the proceeding, Ms Tivao informed the court that State Prosecutor, Tevita Naimila had informed them about wanting to meet again for another PTC, however, Ms Serukai couldn’t meet with them this week.
Justice Rajasinghe told Ms Tivao that they can’t keep asking for adjournment as the matter is still set for PTC for more than two weeks now.
Ms Tivao informed the court they were reshuffling cases and she might be handling the case from now onwards.
Ms Tivao said Ms Serukai was rushed to the hospital again on Thursday evening, but she was supposed to appear for the matter.
She said she hasn’t even spoken to Ms Serukai yet about her trial theory for this matter. She maintained that she couldn’t make any further decision on the matter as she is only appearing on instructions at that point.
The matter has now been moved to January 31, 2025, for final PTC.
