Government is calling on the people of Lau to begin their preparation for the installation of the new Tui Nayau on July 8, 2025.
Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara has been eyed to be the province’s next paramount chief.
He is next in line for the title after his elder brother, Ratu Finau Mara, the eldest son of the late Tui Nayau and former prime minister of Fiji, Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara passed away.

The title was vacant since Ratu Mara’s death on April 18, 2004.
Minister for Agriculture Vatimi Rayalu advised the people of Vanuabalavu on the installation date during his Lau tour last week.
The traditional installation will take place in Mauwi on Nayau, in Lau.
“Get ready,” Mr Rayalu said.
“We all have a responsibility to play; no excuses, you have more than one year to prepare.”
The Vaka ni Nayau clan holds the responsibility of installing the Tui Nayau, a generational role of the Vuinayau tribe.
Akuila Qalo is the Vaka ni Nayau of Narocivo Village on Nayau, Lau.
