A 30-year-old man of Lau alleged to have unlawfully cultivated 164 plants of marijuana was remanded in custody by the Suva Magistrates Court.
The accused, Jone Paul, appeared before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili represented by Aseri Vakaloloma.
The alleged offence came to light sometimes in August, 2017 when the village headman received information that marijuana plants were seen cultivated on the island. After enquiry the illicit drugs were found on the farm.

The court heard that Paul had another case of bench warrant before the court.
Magistrate Ratuvili remanded the accused in custody and adjourned the case to February 28, 2018 for mention.
