More than 600 applications have been received for Year 9 enrolment at Adi Cakobau School (ACS).

Minister for Education Premila Kumar said this was a problem as there were only under 200 places for students.

“There are some concerns from parents who are trying their level best to get their child enrolled at ACS,” Ms Kumar said.

“We have a problem, the problem is that we have received over 600 applications only for Year 9 and we have to select just under 200. It’s difficult.

“Some parents are missing out and they are not very happy about it.”

She said the ministry’s priority for enrolment were disadvantaged children and those who came from maritime islands where there were no secondary schools.
