The Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, has called on Fijians to recognise the role of children in shaping the nation, as the country joins Christians worldwide to observe Palm Sunday.
Mr Radrodro said the day highlighted the value of young people, noting scenes across Fiji of children waving palm branches and singing praises.
“In the Bible, Jesus welcomed the praises of children and reminded us that praise from young hearts is precious to God,” he said.

“By choosing children to celebrate His coming, Jesus shows us that true worship comes from a humble heart. He also reminds us that our children have an important place in God’s plan. This Palm Sunday, let us see in our young ones a gift of joy and hope.”
He encouraged students to use the occasion to reflect and give thanks.
“To all students, I encourage you to take this time to reflect and give thanks for your families, teachers, and friends. We learn from one another how to care and serve. Together, we can build a culture of kindness and teamwork.”
Mr Radrodro also highlighted the diversity within Fiji’s schools, saying it strengthened learning and reinforced the importance of unity.
“To parents and teachers, your role in the lives of your students is powerful. Your hard work and dedication help shape their dreams and their future. I encourage you to keep the spirit of service alive in your classrooms and in your homes.”
He said the message of Palm Sunday should inspire communities to promote hope and positivity.
“On this Palm Sunday, may we carry the message of hope, peace, unity, and love for our children. Let us commit to building hope and positivity in our schools and communities. Every small act of goodness helps our nation.”
