Life will not be the same again for Sanjiv Kumar and his family after losing his father last Thursday.
The late Satendra Kumar, of Keolaiya in Sabeto, Nadi, was found dead on his farm.
Police believe that Mr Satendra was struck by lightning. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Wame Bautolu: “The 60-year-old farmer, while at his cassava farm, was found motionless with a burnt smell from his body and a torn shirt believed to have been struck by lightning.”

Mr Sanjiv, the deceased’s only child, who lives in New Zealand, said his family was mourning his loss.

Mr Sanjiv described his father as a hardworking man who toiled the land to provide the best for him.
“It is painful to lose a father who looked after and cared for me from birth until now. No one can replace him. At times, when I call, he is at his farm. I always tell him to rest.
“He was my backbone. The greatest regret is that I didn’t say goodbye to him.”
Mr Sanjiv said he was preparing for his father’s 60th birthday, planned for August.
