Lightning strikes affect Nadi Airport operations

Adverse weather conditions, including heavy rain and lightning strikes, caused significant disruptions at Nadi International Airport yesterday. Several hundred passengers were left stranded for hours aboard their aircraft after arrival.
The severe weather also impacted airport operations, delaying the disembarking of passengers from other flights and the departure of nine aircraft.
Nadi businessman Ashfaaq Khan, a frequent flyer, was aboard a Fiji Airways flight from Auckland that landed at 4:05pm yesterday. He said he had never experienced waiting more than three hours on an aircraft while on the ground.

He praised the Fiji Airways flight crew for their excellent service in taking care of passengers while the plane waited for clearance.
