Lilly scoops best female cadet award

Best female cadet Lilly Vukicigau believes girls can achieve more than boys if they are determined and hard working.
The Lomary Secondary School Year 13 student said girls like her could achieve the same as their male counterparts in a society.
The eldest of five siblings said her achievement came through hard work and perseverance.

The 18-year-old was presented the best female cadet award during the Lomary Secondary School passing- out parade on Friday.
Vukicigau said it was rare to see girls achieve such awards in a school cadet passing out parade.
“I am honoured to receive the award despite four weeks of hard training,” she said.
“I have learned so much over the past weeks of cadet training and I know that it will help me in the long run.”
She said most of them were new to the system, especially waking up early in the morning during this wet weather.
“I am happy that we made history despite the rural setting that we are in. I want to take this time to thank the Republic of Fiji Military Forces for guiding our students within four weeks of cadet training,” she said.
